A new prototype for a device created by QuatuMDx may soon provide a full diagnostic test much faster than traditional methods allow. QuatuMDx is a medical devices company specializing in the development of portable diagnostic devices. Their prototype, nown as Q-POC, has seen success in producing DNA test results from blood, and has the potential to provide quick results for patients all over the world. One of the device’s potential uses is for the detection of infection by the malaria parasite and whether it is resistant to antimalarial medications. Although the protoype looks promising so far, it still needs additional work before it can begin clinical trials.
