Data suggests less than 5% of people take part in clinical studies.
Clinical research depends greatly on the “Medical Heroes” that volunteer to participate in studies. A clinical trial may be delayed or canceled without an adequate amount of qualified volunteers. These volunteers play an important role in the approval process of new medications, vaccines, and devices. Many people are willing to participate, but are often unaware of opportunities available to them. Another barrier is the misconception that study participants are “guinea pigs” or have little freedom once they sign an informed consent form. INC Research and CISCRP are presenting an “Ideathon” to address these issues and identify potential solutions. The Inspiring Hope Ideathon will take place on September 27 & 28th in Boston.
