Time and money are common reasons why people don’t cook healthy meals. The USDA’s site What’s Cooking? helps visitors find healthy and budget friendly recipes. The site includes tools such as My Cookbook, where you can create and print your own personalized cookbook. Another tool is Menu Builder that helps you build healthy menus and generate a shopping list to help prepare those meals. The SNAP-Ed Recipe Finder searches a database for recipes that have been reviewed by nutrition professionals using cost and nutrition criteria.
The Northwest Wisconsin Community Services Agency has created their own cookbook using recipes from the SNAP-Ed database. Click here to view the cookbook.
Healthy eating is especially important for those who have diabetes. Recipes for healthy meals can be found on the What’s Cooking? site as well as with Diabetes Forecast. You can learn more about our clinical research studies for type I and II diabetes by clicking here.
