comment by Janet Lewis on the article Study: Are CROs Winning the War for Talent?
As a site we see unbelievable turnover in CRAs. I always tell monitors the grass is not always greener at another CRO. Before deciding to leave the company, you should first attempt to help the CRO understand your concerns and problems. The CRAs have such high demands placed on them, then get so far behind, that it is easier to jump ship instead of trying to solve the problems. Then the next CRA has to untangle was has not been done and the cycle starts all over again. The industry as a whole needs to look at this problem. Incentives are paid to draw talent from each other instead of trying to keep your own talent. It is so costly to train new employees that you need to invest in the employees you have. It is not only costly to CROs, but also to sites to have several CRAs monitor throughout a study. I hope the industry looks at the results of this survey. CRAs live on the road and make sacrifices in their home life and should be compensated. I know so many wonderful CRAs that work at one company one day and another company the next day. The CRA is vital to the research process!
