World Meningitis Day 2014

Today, along with the beginning of World Immunization Week, is World Meningitis Day. Meningitis is the inflammation of the tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord.  Symptoms are often confused with the flu, so it is important to be vaccinated against this potentially deadly disease. All 11-12 year olds should be vaccinated followed by a booster shot at age 16.  For those older who haven’t been vaccinated, you may need the shot if you are at an increased risk.  Follow the links below for information and news about meningitis:
