The National Meningitis Association (NMA) is a nonprofit organization founded by parents whose children have died or live with permanent disabilities from meningococcal disease. They lend a voice to some 1,500 people affected each year by this destructive disease. Their mission is to educate families, medical professionals and others about bacterial meningitis and prevention approaches to the disease. The NMA’s website is a great resource for those who want to learn more about meningitis and what you can do to protect yourself and others.
The best way to prevent meningitis is through vaccination. We currently have 2 clinical trials for meningitis vaccines:
–Pediatric Meningitis Vaccine for ages 7-15
–Meningitis B Vaccine for ages 10-25
