New platform puts patients at the center of clinical research

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has awarded a $1.9 million grant to PatientsLikeMe, a network that allows patients to connect with others and track their health history and progress.  The grant is to be used to create an open research platform that will assess a patient’s experience and collect data that they believe is important, rather than only those outcomes that researchers and clinicians seek out.  Those involved hope that this more rounded approach to studying certain conditions and diseases will allow health care providers to better serve their patients.  Read more here
