New drug offers novel approach to taming flu virus

A drug that failed to treat sepsis in clinical trials may provide a new way to fight the flu.  Tests on rats have shown that the drug may stop the immune system from overreacting, a result of the flu that can kill people with the flu.  Many flu strains have become drug resistant, so a new option for flu treatment may be necessary as more stains evolve.
