According to a report released by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), there are nearly 5,500 cancer drugs in the works. This is out of the nearly 17,000 projects in progress around the globe. Many of these medicines are considered first-in-class and may provide new methods for treating diseases. Some of the potential treatments include 158 for ovarian cancer, 41 for small cell lung cancer and 19 for sickle cell disease.
